The DUNAMENTI REK Reproduction Center (formerly Kaáli Institute) was established in 1992 under the leadership of Dr. Steven G. Kaali, with the professional support of Dr. Wilfried Feichtinger. The first institute began operations in Budapest, followed by additional locations in Szeged, Győr, Debrecen, Tapolca, and Kaposvár. Since 2019, the institution has been state-owned and has provided successful infertility treatments to tens of thousands of couples. 

The institute has played a leading role in introducing new techniques in Hungary. In 1994, it was the first to apply the ICSI procedure for treating male infertility, followed by the introduction of assisted hatching (AH). In 1995, the institute achieved the first successful fertilization using sperm isolated from testicular tissue. It was also the first to use FISH-based preimplantation genetic testing in 2002, which allowed for the screening of chromosomal abnormalities. 

The center’s doctors not only provide treatments but also engage in scientific research, publish articles, and contribute to the development of professional protocols. The institute’s staff authored the first Hungarian textbook on infertility, which was published in a second edition in 2017.
